Nellie Jean (Brattain) Slaton December 28, 2016Nellie Jean (Brattain) Slaton died on December 28, 2016 after a long illness. She was born on September 17, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana to William and Lois Brattain. Nellie was a graduate of Indiana State University where she majored in English, Latin & Library Science. After retiring from the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, Nellie & her husband moved to Cape Coral in 1976. Nellie's true passion was volunteering at the Cape Coral Library.She is survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends. Nellie was preceded in death by her husband John, her sister Mary Alice & her brother Dale.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the National Cremation Society facility located on Hancock Bridge Parkway. Visitation will be at 1:30 pm prior to service. Internment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date where her husband John is buried. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Cape Coral Library., P.O. Box 152471, Cape Coral, Florida 33915. Arrangements have been entrusted to National Cremation and Burial Society.
