Nelson A. Nerat, 92, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 28, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Born on January 25, 1933, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Nelson grew up in the heart of Pennsylvania before moving to Dundalk, where he built a life and career working at the Bethlehem Steel Plant. A true jack of all trades, Nelson’s hands were rarely still—whether on the job or in his beloved workshop, where he was always tinkering on a project.

He found joy in the simple pleasures of life: time with family, the satisfaction of a job well done, and quiet mornings spent crabbing or fishing from his houseboat on the bay. Nelson was a man of quiet strength and deep devotion, and his presence will be missed beyond measure.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Kathleen; his children, Tami, Brenda, and Seth; and his cherished grandchildren: Kai, Megan, Brooke, Hank, Sam, and Thomas. He was preceded in death by his older sisters, whose memories remained close to his heart.

A private cremation will take place on Friday, May 2, followed by a family gathering at his home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you hug a loved one and remind them why you love them—just as Nelson always did.
