Nena Ann Fair ThrasherSHREVEPORT - Nena Ann Fair Thrasher, a native of Ashland and resident of Shreveport, died on September 26. She was 91 years old.Nena was born on October 11, 1925 and was the youngest of nine children born to Stonewall Jackson Fair and Mittie Frances Smith Fair. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1941. She was a co-founder of the daycare facility at Westside Baptist Church in Shreveport and worked in retail sales at Rubenstein's, Hearne's and Dillard's. She spent 14 years as a teacher's aide with special education students at Southwood High School until she retired in 1988.Nena was preceded in death by eight siblings: Fred Fair of Shreveport, Orie Fair of Natchitoches, Leo Fair, Wiley Fair, Ivy Fair and twins Cecil and Ray Fair, all of Ashland; along with her only sister, Nita Fair of Ashland. She is survived by her husband, Maurice Stanley Thrasher of Shreveport; daughters Sandy Thrasher Ourso (Lynn Ourso) of Baton Rouge, Janet Bean and Kathy Thrasher of Shreveport and Traci Thrasher of New York City; granddaughters Lesley Busi Rickman (Dr. Samuel K. Rickman) of Jackson, Tennessee, Angela Busi Doe (David Doe) of Shreveport, Rachael Allison Bean of New Orleans, Caroline Elizabeth Ourso of New York City, and Ashley; great-grandchildren Samuel and William Rickman and Madeline Doe; along with numerous nieces and nephews.Nena donated her body to LSU Health Sciences Center, and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to or in Shreveport or the .
