Schramer, 60, of Cortland, formerly of Sycamore and Elburn, died Monday, October 24, 2016 at the DeKalb County Nursing & Rehab Center. Nick was born on January 9, 1956 in Aurora, IL, the son of Leonard J & Mary A (Juns) Schramer. He attended Kaneland Schools and graduated in 1974.Nick began his career wood-working in Elburn and night watchman at the Elburn Packing Plant. He then worked out of Burlington, IL repairing pressure washers, covering 3 states. He retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Co in St Charles, IL after 26 years of service. He married Anna Miller on April 14, 1988. They made their home in Cortland. Nick had a beautiful, kind and loving soul and loved children. He and his wife Anna, fostered 27 special needs babies. He had many interests; scuba diving, volleyball, chess, board games. He was also an avid history buff. Nick's greatest joy was his family. Nick is survived by his loving wife, Anna of twenty-eight years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two devoted daughters, Samantha (Aaron) Gudmunson and Shari Schramer; and two granddaughters, Emma and Mia Gudmunson. He is also survived by 7 sisters, Donna (Howard) Petersen of Sycamore, Judith Davis of Sycamore, Catherine (Robert) Johnson of Cortland, Anne (Daniel) Stanko of Sandwich, Jeanne (Mike) Hawley of Arkansas, Susan (Jack) Amato of Sycamore, Christine (William) Deutsch of Sycamore; Sister-in-law, Joanne (late Leonard) Schramer; and 5 brothers, Richard (Linda) Schramer of Sycamore, Robert "Skip" (Beverly) Schramer of Sycamore, Thomas Schramer of Elburn, Charles (Pamela) Schramer of Sycamore, Michael Schramer of Arizona. Brother-in-law's, Bob and Sam; and sister-in-law, Cathy. He was a wonderful uncle to 38 nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Leonard J Schramer, Jr; one sister-in-law, Jessie Schramer; his mother-in-law, Catherine Colligan.Nick's wishes were for a private family memorial. There will be no formal services.
