Nick Torres, 91, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, in Las Vegas.He was born on March 14, 1924, to George Torres and Fedelia Segura Torres in Shoemaker.He served in the Unites States Army from May 28, 1943, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 12, 1946. He was a mechanic with Gambles for 24 years.A Catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Fedelia Torres; brothers: Fidel Torres, George Torres Jr., Albert Torres and Larry Sandoval; sisters: Mary Paiz; baby sister: Cecilia Torres; sisters: Morris Gallegos and Marie Torres.He is survived by his wife of the family home: Mary G. Torres; children: Nicholas Daniel Torres Jr. and wife, MaryAnn, of Frederick, Colo.; Moises Gutierrez and wife, AnnaMarie, of Las Vegas; Rosie Bocanegra of Frederick, Colo.; Aileen Torres-Hughes and husband, Douglas, of Las Vegas; Trinidad Joseph Torres and wife, Juanita, of Denver; Michael D. Torres and wife, Cindy, of Denver; Lucy Madrid and husband, Morris, of Las Vegas; 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; sisters: Lina Valdez and husband, Anselmo, of Las Vegas, and Cecilia Scott of Las Vegas, Nev.; close friends and neighbors: Jose and Florida Archuleta and family, Joe and Priscilla Ortiz and family and the Tafoya family; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. Funeral service will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Thursday also at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant.
