Nicole Denise Richert was born on June 26, 1975 in Juneau, Alaska to Dennis & Maxine Richert. At two weeks of age, she had already ridden on a ferris wheel and taken a boat ride. She continued her adventures, growing up in North Douglas next door to the Meketa family, going fishing, camping, to horse back riding camps, skiing, and dirt bike riding. Occasionally she would escape from home on her big wheel, speeding down the highway with her superman cape and pigtails flying.Nicole , along with her older brother Callen, attended Gastineau Elementary, Marie Drake Middle School, and Juneau-Douglas H.S. (and one semester her sophomore year at Oak Creek Ranch school in Arizona's red rock country where she excelled in Art & English and enjoyed riding horses for PE credit).Following high school, she worked for federal, state, and private agencies in secretarial positions, for Lands End in Wisconsin, and most recently flagging. She also attended UASE for one year, majoring in office administration.Nicole was a Goldbelt and Sealaska shareholder.Her love of fishing and camping carried into her adult life with her son, Wyatt, by her side. She also enjoyed digging for old bottles, painting and drawing, and collecting tools for fix her various cars and trucks.On August 21, 2014 she succumbed to heart failure due to complications of pulmonary artery hypertension (diagnosed in 2012) at Anchorage Native Medical Center with family at her side. Nicole was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Richert, her maternal grandparents Tom & Connie Paddock, and paternal grandparents Alfred & Esther Richert.She is survived by her son, Wyatt Harvey, mother, Maxine Richert, brother Callen (Nikki) Richert, and nephew Braxton Richert as well as Uncle Tom Paddock (Sarah), Jr., Aunt Anna, "Sugie", Erbeck, Aunts Arlene Reese and Janice Christy (Don) of Minnesota and Uncles Bill Richert (Bonnie) and Gordon Richert (Carol) of Minnesota and Wisconsin and cousins in Juneau, Anchorage, and "the lower 48". She is also survived by her good friend and cousin Ron Vavalis.A celebration of Life will be held next summer in Juneau and her ashes, along with her father's and grandmother's ashes, will be scattered in Tenakee Inlet following the Celebration. Two generations of Paddocks were raised in Tenakee Springs and it was a favorite fishing place for the Richert family.
