Noel "Allan" Icaca Andes passed peacefully on November 25, 2013 at his Juneau home surrounded by his loving family. Allan was born on September 10, 1946 in Paco, Manila, Philippines. He is the 3rd oldest child of 10 children of the late Gregorio and Juanita Andes. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Araneta University in Manila. He was employed by the Republic of the Philippines, Department of Agriculture, where he met his lovely wife Norma during their training in Manila. They married and settled in Lezo, Aklan where they raised 5 beautiful daughters (Allan really wanted a son). They were both assigned in Lezo, Aklan under the Department of Agriculture where they both retired after 23 years of service. In 1992, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in Daly City, California, near Allan's family.Already highly respected amongst his Filipino community, Allan always dreamt of being a politician in their hometown in the Philippines. With the approval of the family, Allan, Norma and their 3 youngest daughters moved back to Lezo where he was elected Vice-Mayor. After fulfilling 8 years of service to his hometown, the family decided to move to Juneau, Alaska, after he visited the beautiful and peaceful town. He worked for the University of Alaska Southeast and Southeast Alaska Animal Medical Center. He was a very active member and officer of the Filipino Community Inc. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the quality time spent with his wife in the summer's garage sales & family BBQs. He loved dogs and farm animals and enjoyed gardening with his granddaughters.During Allan's last few months he received loving care through Hospice & Home Care of Juneau by their compassionate nurses and staff. He was surrounded by numerous families and friends and received countless prayers from all over the world. His infectious laugh, caring nature and loving personality will be missed by many.Allan is survived by his wife Norma; daughters Mary Gretta (husband Dicks), Victoria (husband Shaun), Jan Nina, Kristina & Lourdes; granddaughters Kaia, Aubrey & Angelique and grandson Wesson. He is also survived by his sisters Amelia (husband Frederico), Josefina (husband Rudy), Aida (husband Cipriano) and brothers Gil (wife Evelyn), Oscar (wife Wilma), Tonny (wife Amy), Sonny (Lani), Ramir (wife Lilibeth) and Alex (Maria). Allan will be remembered as a very loving husband, amazing father, respected brother, and kind man.
