Nora DerreberryKnoxville, TNOur beloved mother, Nora Belle Derreberry, of Knoxville, TN passed away on December 29, 2016 at 93. She was born on September 12, 1923 to parents, Charles Luttrell and Lettie McDaniel Luttrell, in the Right Switch Community in west Knox County and was a lifelong resident of the area. For many years, Nora was an active member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and a volunteer for the American Heart Association. She attended Blue Grass Elementary School and Farragut High School. Nora was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. After raising her children, she worked at Kays Ice Cream and the lunch counter at Suburban Drug Store where her quick smile, sweet disposition, great recipes, and homemade dinner rolls were enjoyed by all.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 70 years, James Byron Derreberry; sister, Mildred Luttrell; brothers, Charles Luttrell, Robert Luttrell, and Harold Luttrell; daughter, Patricia Derreberry; grandson, Jason Altom; and great-grandson, Walker Gorney. She is survived by daughters, Maxine (James) Curtis, Dianna (Donald) Altom, and Sandra O'Donnell; 8 grandchildren, (Jeff Curtis, Greg Curtis, Katherine Altom, Audrey O'Donnell Patrick, John O'Donnell IV (Emily), Daniel O'Donnell, Eddie Gorney, and Charlie Gorney (Laura)); 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Mike Wilkinson officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Edgewood Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., family and friends will meet in the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. The family wishes to thank the kind staff at Westmoreland Health and Rehab for their special care of our mother.
