Nora K. MercierRed Hook - Nora (Schwarz) Mercier, 46, of Red Hook, NY passed away at her home February 9, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 17, 1970 in Bristol, PA. At a young age her family moved to Glastonbury, CT where she grew up and attended Mercy High School. She then attended Stonehill College (class of 1992) and received her MBA from the University of Connecticut. Nora started her career in Hartford, CT in finance, moving to the Hudson Valley of NY, eventually settling in Red Hook, NY. In 2003 she gave up her career as a successful financial advisor to stay home and raise her two daughters, only to recently return to the work force and quickly become a top performing realtor for Hallenbeck Real Estate in Rhinebeck, NY. Nora was beloved by many, as she was sharp, quick to smile with an infectious laugh. She made a lasting impact on those she met. She was a frequent and active volunteer in the community. She is a past president of the Warwick chapter of
Rotary International, a past president of the Mill Road PTA, a religious education teacher for St. Christopher church, and a proud co-founder of the TeamNora, Inc. non-profit. Nora was an accomplished flutist, a lover of New England beaches, and took great pride in watching her daughters' progress and excel in life, they were her heart and soul.Nora is survived by her devoted and caring husband of 14 years, Edward, and their daughters, Hannah and Abigail. She also leaves her parents, Richard and Honor Schwarz, her sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Chris Fox, and their son, Cameron, all of Glastonbury, CT. She also leaves a host of other relatives.Our family extends its deep and sincere gratitude to all who provided so much support, comfort, and kindness along Nora's path to heaven.Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook, NY on Thursday, February 16th, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 17th, 2017 at St. Christopher's Church, Red Hook, NY. Father Patrick Buckley will officiate.
