PONTE VEDRA, Fla. - Norma Marie Rice, 84, of Ponte Vedra, Fla., died peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2016. She WON her battle with cancer with lung cancer and passed peacefully in the midst of her family. She was born on November 16, 1931 in Greenfield, Mass, the daughter of Leon and Christine Pluff. Norma grew up in Greenfield, Mass., where he met her husband, Robert Rice, wife Norma (Pluff) and were married in 1950. Bob and Norma were married for over 65 years. She graduated from Greenfield High School and attended North Hampton Commercial College. She moved to Kittery (Maine) and lived at 100 Rogers Road with her family for over 57 years. Norma and Bob owned and operated a wide range of businesses including a small chain of retail stores and most recently a real estate brokerage business in York, Maine. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Norma was a trail blazer for modern women and demonstrated the ability to balance the demands of both career and family. She is survived by her son, Alan, his partner Anisia R. Gifford, her grandson, Jared and wife Sheila, two great-grandsons, Brady and Nolan Rice, and three grandchildren Anisia Allen Lundberg, Georgia Gifford Lundberg and Colden Lundberg. SERVICES: Visitation will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at the Farrell Funeral Home, 684 State Street in Portsmouth followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Raphael's Church (Kittery) at 1 p.m. and burial at Orchard Grove Cemetery (Kittery) at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Norma's memory Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
