NORMA FINK PIAZZA, 88 FREEPORT - Norma Jean Fink Piazza, 88, of Freeport, IL passed away at her home on Monday, March 3, 2014, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. She was born on December 2, 1925, in Cedarville, IL to Oscar and Nellie (Dwyer) Fink. She was the youngest of 13 children. She married Samuel Piazza in 1960. They lived for 30 years in Holcomb, Wisconsin, on the lake where they enjoyed fishing and loved nature. After the sudden death of her husband, Samuel Piazza in 1990, she moved to Machesney Park, IL, to be near her 3 sisters. She moved back to Freeport in 1994, and lived in Knollwood Estates where she made many friends. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint and crossword puzzles. She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Thrasher) Moore, (Greg) of Des Moines, Iowa, Kathleen (Nye) Altensey, (David Loring) Freeport, IL: 4 grandchildren, Brian Blackiston, Dawn (Blackiston) Lugo, (George) also of Des Moines, Iowa, Melissa Frederick-Sweeney, (Chad) of Friendship, Wisconsin, Benjamin Altensey (Jaclyn Swarka) of Chicago, Illinois; and 2 great-grandchildren, Nicolas and Zacary Lugo. She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Thrasher; husband, Samuel Piazza; and 12 siblings. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Schwarz Funeral Home on Park Blvd. in Freeport, IL.
