Norma J. WorkingerApril 16, 1936 - August 10, 2017Windsor TownshipNorma J. ( Kerchner)Workinger, 81, passed away peacefully at the York Hospital on Thursday, August 10. She was the beloved wife of the late William B. Workinger.Mrs. Workinger was born on April 16, 1936 in Leader Heights and was the daughter of the late Sterling and Alene (Ilyes) Kerchner. Norma was a graduate of Dallastown High School. She worked in food service for the Dallastown School District and later was the nutritionist for the Christ Lutheran Day Care Center, retiring after several years of service. Norma was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Dallastown and was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren at their cabin in Milroy. Later in life they enjoyed spending winters at Myrtle Beach. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crafts and was a former Cub Scout Den mother.She is survived by her three sons, Jan Workinger and his wife, Cindy of York, Stephen Workinger and his wife, Tracey of York and Mark Workinger and his wife, Fran of Clayton, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Litz and her husband, Michael of York, Lauren Workinger and her fiancé,' Stephen Perko, II of York, Victoria Workinger of York, and Eric and Cameron Workinger, both of Clayton, NC; great-grandchildren, Collin and Paisley Litz and Biance and Stephen Perko, III. She is also survived by her sibilings, Suzanne and Darryl Straley of Butler, Fred Kerchner and his wife, Brenda of Brogue and Beth and Larry Williamson of York; several nieces and nephews and a foster daughter, Ellie Fields. A viewing for Norma will take place on Wednesday, August 16 from 6 – 8 p.m., at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Dallastown. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 17 at Christ Lutheran Church, 126 W. Main St., Dallastown, with the Reverend Lawrence A. Cunnings officiating. A viewing will be held at the church on Thursday, beginning at 10 a.m. until the start of the service. Interment will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Norma's name to Christ Lutheran Church.To share memories please visit
