Norman E. Howe 1931—2016Norman E. Howe, 85, of Monroe, died Saturday, October, 8, 2016 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born on April 6, 1931 in Waddams Township, IL, the son of Chester and Louise (Mast) Howe. Norm served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He married Joan E. Cox on August, 19, 1978 in Freeport, IL. Norm was self-employed as a semi driver, specializing in hauling oversized loads, mainly modular homes. He was a member of Believers Fellowship Church; he enjoyed their dogs, and helped his wife Joan, with her show dogs at events. He is survived by his wife, Joan of Monroe; 3 children: Debbie (Rod) Schiffman of Orem, Ut, Devan (Juanda) Howe of Merrill, WI, and Barbara (Randy) Loomis of Lena, IL; 2 step-children: Mary Beth (Joe) McConkey of Winona, MN and Fredric (Laura) Martin of Bloomington, IL; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers: Dale (Sharon) Howe of Bertha, MN and Maurice (Lynne) Howe of Lena, IL; sisters: Lois Ferguson and Evelyn Behuniak, both of Freeport, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Norm was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald Howe, sisters: Delores Werkheiser and Thelma Simpson.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeffrey Kohl officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Polo, IL. A visitation will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
