Norman Edward. ThayerCatawba Island, Ohio : Norman Edward Thayer, 80, of Catawba Island, Ohio passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 10, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio, a son of the late Glenn and Helen (Rymers) Thayer. He married Dolly Royster on October 24, 1981 and she survives.In the 1970's Norm owned and operated Norm Thayer Ford and a Yamaha Dealership in Port Clinton where he excelled in sales and service to his customers. He sold the Ford dealership in the early 1980's . He also owned Best Buy Marine Sales on Perry Street in Port Clinton in the 1990's and continued to work until his retirement in 2000.Norm was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed boating on Lake Erie. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife Dolly, to Hawaii, Wyoming, Colorado, and spending winters in the Florida Keys. He owned a 1966 Mustang and took pleasure in taking a ride in the country. He was a music fan of Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Alabama.Survivors include his wife Dolly; children, Michelle (Terry) Foster, Toledo, Ohio, Mark Thayer, Clyde, Ohio and Valerie Thayer, Port Clinton; grandchildren, Brent, Blake and Brady Thayer, Haley and Sydney Foster, and Thea Wybensinger; great-grandson, Ryder Thayer; sister, Darlene Claus, Catawba Island; nieces, Maria Konoff, Jenny Fiorletta; and nephew, Mike Claus. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Denny Thayer. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, Ohio from 10 am until funeral services at 12:30 pm with Stein Hospice Chaplain Mel Sayler officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, 4730 E.
