Norman Ferrel MarvelPort Hueneme, CAIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norman Ferrel Marvel on August 27, 2017, at his home in Port Hueneme. Norm was born on July 25, 1932 to George and Rachel Marvel in Paris, Arkansas. His family came to California in 1943 where he attended Hueneme Elementary School and was a 1950 graduate of Oxnard High School.Norm served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 as an Aircraft Mechanic which led to a lifelong passion for airplanes. He was then employed by Tally Corporation in Newbury Park for 42 years where he worked as a manufacturing engineer.Norm was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Port Hueneme for over 40 years, where he served as an elder. He was most recently a member of Orchard Community Church of Ventura. He was also a member of Oxnard Masonic Lodge 341. He enjoyed many years of camping with family and cherished friends. Norm is survived by his wife Joan, sister Georgia Carpenter and husband Orvene, children- Richard Marvel and wife Donna, Stacy Porter and husband Keith, David Marvel and wife Susan, Steven Marvel, John M. DeFronzo, Kim Wieser, and Deborah Carrillo and husband Ron. He is also survived by his grandchildren Sarah Marvel, Eric and Chad Vaphides, Taylor and Hailey Porter, Jeanice, Rachel, and Jordan Marvel, Matthew Carpenter, Ryan Wieser, Jacob and Blake Carrillo, Brooke Kuhry, 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.Our Dad led a life that was centered on his faith, his family, and his friends. He will be greatly missed.Services will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, September 2nd at Orchard Community Church, 8180 Telephone Road in Ventura. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the .
