Mr. Norman O. Williams, 82 of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville following an extended illness. Norman was born on June 26, 1932 in Mound City, Missouri to the late Bryan J. and Louise Williams. The family moved to Iowa where Norman graduated from High School in Braddyville, Iowa, then later moved to Atlantic, Iowa. Norm served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He was married to Marjorie Kaminky on May 21, 1955, in Atlantic, Iowa, where they resided until retiring to Florida in 1994. Norm was in the insurance business and was the Atlantic Agency Manager of Equitable of Iowa for over 40 years. He was a member of the Atlantic Kiwanis Club, where he served as President and various other organizations. Norman and Marjorie showed American Saddle Bred Horses for many years and he served two years as President of the Iowa Horse Shows Association. After moving to Florida they became involved in raising and showing Llamas, calling their farm, Nor-Ma-La-Ma Land. He also loved golf and spent as much time as he could on the course in Atlantic and also in Lake City. Norman is survived by his wife of nearly sixty years, Marjorie; daughter, Grace Williams-Getz; granddaughter, Alexis O'Neil Getz, and great granddaughter, J Lee Schweitzer; plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings and one nephew. A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM in Chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Tate, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Lake City officiating.
