Our loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and brother, Orlin Paul Hansen, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Jan. 18, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. Paul was born on Oct. 17, 1933, to Orlin L. and Mary G. Hansen at their family home in Smithfield. He attended Smithfield schools and graduated from North Cache High School in 1951. Paul served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Southern California from 1954 to 1956. He was drafted into the Army in 1956 and served his country honorably. Upon his return home, he married his sweetheart, Jeanene Jenson, in the Logan LDS Temple on his 25th birthday, Oct. 17, 1958. Paul and Jeanene made their home in Smithfield where they were blessed with four sons, Alan, Michael, Doug and Dale. Paul loved working with his sons and grandsons on the family dairy farm. Paul was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving in many church callings, some of which included Counselor in the Bishopric, High Priest Group Leader, Ward Mission Leader, faithful home teacher and he also served in the Logan LDS Temple Baptistry. His most cherished calling was serving a full-time mission with his eternal companion, Jeanene, in the New Mexico Albuquerque Mission. They served faithfully in Durango and Silverton, Colorado where they made many dear friends and special memories. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jeanene of Smithfield; four sons: Alan (Teresa) of Woods Cross, Utah, Michael (Lana) of Smithfield, Doug (Jana) Smithfield and Dale (Amye) of Hyde Park; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Stephen of Smithfield; and a sister, Rebecca of Orem, Utah.Paul experienced a joyous reunion on Friday as he was reunited with his parents, sister, Arlene Wiser, two infant brothers and one infant sister, who had all preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. in the Smithfield 16th Ward Chapel, 451 S. 250 East, Smithfield. A viewing will be held Monday evening for family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home, 85 S. Main, Smithfield and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery. The family expresses their appreciation to the Rocky Mountain Home Care & Hospice nurses and caregivers, and to numerous Right at Home caregivers, most recently, Brunella Stanley and especially Paul's "adopted" grandson, Colton Johnson, who loved and cared for Paul the past year and a half. They, along with his loving and devoted wife, Jeanene, allowed Paul to remain at home during his extended illness. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com.
