Knippel, OdellOdell Antonia Knippel, 92, of Oshkosh passed away peacefully at Gabriel's Villa on Saturday, March 18, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 700 W. Linwood Ave., Oshkosh with Reverend Jack Stubbs officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Odell's name.The daughter and only child of Herbert and Elda (Gerbig) Ehricke, Odell was born on January 24, 1925, at the family homestead near Marion, Wisconsin. Odell graduated from Marion High School in 1942 and Oshkosh Business College. Odell was 16 when she met Darwin "Jack" Knippel at the church choir director's home. Jack enlisted in the Army in 1941 and the two corresponded by letters for four years. Odell and Jack were united in marriage at First Evangelical United Brethren Church in Oshkosh, on May 17, 1947. They raised four children, David, Kristine, Robert and Sandra. Odell enjoyed playing cards and games with her friends at Carmel Residence where she resided for 20 years. Odell also enjoyed reading, doing daily crossword puzzles and knitting. She was an accomplished seamstress and pianist. Odell was an active member at First United Methodist Church, a member of Miriam Circle and was church organist for 32 years. Odell was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, daughter Sandra Lueck-Maske and son-in-law Willard "Nick" Nicholson. Odell is survived by two sons and a daughter, David (Susan) Knippel of Ames, IA; Robert (Naomi) Knippel of Hortonville; and Kristine Nicholson of Oshkosh. She is survived by 9 grandchildren, Matthew (Laura) Green of Rockford, IL; Michael (Dana) Green of Oshkosh; Heidi (Derek) Beyer of Marshall, WI; Ryan (Jenny) James of Seattle, WA; Amy (Thomas) Gardner of Middleton, NH; Andrew (Sami) Lueck of Vancouver, WA; Jessica Lueck of Chicago, IL; Daniel Knippel of Boone, IA; and Eric Knippel presently serving in the U.S. Navy in Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
