Irene Prendiz was born on August 12, 1930, in Shafter, CA, to Michael Prendiz of Coleman, TX, and Rosa Leyva of Inde, Durango, Mexico. Ms. Prendiz of Sanger, CA, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016, surrounded by the people she cherished most, her children and grandchildren. She was 86. While still a teenager, she began working at the fruit packing houses in Sanger, CA. At the age of 18, Ms. Prendiz married Tirso Gonzales, and bore six children. Ms. Prendiz lived in Sanger until 1957, when the family moved to Azusa, CA. In 1962, her husband was killed in a tragic accident and she began working full time in the pharmaceutical industry to support her children. In 1966, Ms. Prendiz married Raymond Cuevas of Sanger, and gave birth to three more children. She was an active member of Life Tabernacle Church in Sanger for years, and a faithful servant of the Lord to the end. No one who met Irene Prendiz will ever forget her. She was one of a kind. Strong in spirit, faith and mind. Whether it was her generosity to all who crossed her path, or the love she showered on her family. There was no mistaking her presence or her platinum updo. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert "Bobby" Gonzales; brothers, Isaac, Levi, and Richard Prendiz; sisters, Lydia Rodriguez, and Rosita Velasquez; and parents, Michael Prendiz, and Rosa Leyva. Ms. Prendiz is survived by her sons, Richard Gonzales of San Diego, CA, Gilbert Gonzales of San Francisco, CA, George Gonzales of Sanger, CA, Ray Cuevas Jr., and Isaias Cuevas, both of Sanger, CA; daughters, Alice Garcia, and Sandra Gonzales, both of Oakland, CA, and Irene Kayaian of Clovis, CA; daughters-in-law, Flora Gonzales, Mary Nora Gonzales, and Gina Cuevas; son-in-law, Masis Kayaian; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sisters, Alicia Reyes, Delia Mendoza, Diane Prendiz, Marlene Vogel, and Chandi Brady; and brothers, Michael, Rudy and Joel Prendiz. A Celebration Service will be held at Bethel Community Church, 946 N. Bethel Ave., Sanger, CA on Friday, November 4, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Graveside Service at Sanger Cemetery.
