Olan Stanley GraysonJuly 26, 1927 - July 2, 2016Olan Stanley Grayson, 88, of Wilder, passed away Saturday July 2, 2016 at his home surrounded by family after suffering a stroke. Olan "Stan" was born on July 26, 1927 in Los Angeles, California to parents Emmogene Clark and John Morgan Grayson. He was the youngest of five siblings. Stan was drafted into the Army where he served in the end of the Korean War as a radio operator. He also served as a radio operator in the Merchant Marines. After being honorably discharged from the service in 1957, Stan moved back to Wilder where he met and married the love of his life, Elaine June Grayson. They married on March 26, 1962 in Winnemucca, Nevada. Stan and June made their lives in Arena Valley where they operated a dairy for 27 years. After leaving the dairy business they raised feeder cattle for a number of years before farming alfalfa hay. They continued to farm until a couple of years prior to Stan's passing. Stan was known for his strong work ethics and determination. He never gave up, even when he had fixed the same part on his baler five times in a row, that baler gave him a lot of trouble but he kept at it. He was also known for his compassion and generosity. Whether it was putting trust in people to leave money in the milking barn after filling up their milk jug or allowing people to take hay to feed their animals without payment until their next paycheck, he was always willing to take people at their word, even if it didn't always work out in his favor. Another attribute Stan possessed was a sense of humor, he was always making someone laugh, even if his jokes weren't always appropriate. He was adored by his great-grandchildren who had the ability to break through his tough exterior and show his softer side. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.Stan is survived by his wife Elaine June Grayson of Wilder, ID; his daughters, Karen DeLaGarza of Wilder, Melissa Beaver of Wilder, Janine (Mike) Petersen of Elko, NV; and his sister Betty McCracken of Portland, OR.
