Olene E. Wienke1921 - 2016Olene E. Wienke, 95, of Bristol, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at her residence. She was born on May 18, 1921, to the late Peter and Hazel (Harms) VanderZee in Salem Township. She received her education in Salem Mound Center School, Wilmot Union Free High School, Racine Kenosha Rural Normal School in Union Grove and Whitewater State University. On May 13, 1944, she married Virgil O. Wienke at the First United Methodist Church in Kenosha. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1998. Olene taught elementary school starting at South Bristol School and retired from Paris Consolidated after 28 years in 1983. Olene was a member of Bristol United Methodist Church. Olene enjoyed making pot holders, solving word search puzzles, tending flowers and reading. She also enjoyed having a twin sister. Olene is survived by her children Marie (Scott) Hall and James P. (Josephine) Wienke both of Bristol, 15 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her daughter Shirley J. Wienke; her sisters, Georgia Patrick, Alta DeBell, twin sister Olive Pflueger; and brother Allen VanderZee. Funeral Services for Olene will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5 p.m. until the time of service.
