Olevia LindseyJanuary 29, 1938 - November 11, 2016SeasideOlevia Lindsey, 78, passed away Friday, November 11, 2016 at her home in Seaside, CA surrounded by her family.She was born on January 29, 1938 In Clarkdale, MS to James and Clara Bryant.Olevia grew up in Clarksdale, MS where she graduated from Coahoma County High School.When Olevia left Mississippi she moved to Chicago, IL, where she met the love of her life George Lindsey Jr. George, as charming as he is, took Olevia on a few dates and asked her for her hand in marriage shortly after. Together they started a wonderful life together and were married for 57 fabulous years.Olevia was born and raised in a Baptist faith.She leaves to cherish her memory her lovely husband George Lindsey Jr; 4 sons, Harold & Gerald (Margo),George III (Renee) & Michael (Tina), 2 daughters Sharon, Cynthia (Larry) Trotter, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 5 sisters Estelle Jerrod, Carrie Rodger, Lucile Hayes, Martha Woods, Leanna Bryant, 1 brother James Bryant, & several nieces and nephews and friends.Olevia was preceded in death by her parents James and Clara Bryant, her 3 sisters Bernice Ratliff, Ceola Gibbs, & Pearl Lean Hayes, her brother Nathaniel Lindsey, her sister in law Mattie B. Harris, her daughter Melinda Lindsey, her granddaughter Olivia Lindsey, great grandson Maylek and a host of nieces, nephews & cousins.Olevia worked in the medical field for over 30 years and retired from Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula in 1999.She enjoyed spending time with family, playing bingo, gardening, doing home improvements, reading books and traveling. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, November 19th, 2016 at Mission Mortuary, 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey, California 93940.
