Olga (better known to all as "Dolly") Greebon passed away in her sleep at home in Alamogordo and went to her heavenly home on August 16, 2017. She was 85. Olga was born on November 22, 1931 in Titel, Yugoslavia, to Karl and Katharina Betschel Schaffer.Dolly was a great cook and could make you mouth water with her rum cake and her wonderful pastries, she learned to make from her mother. She immigrated to San Antonio, Texas in 1949, and quickly learned to speak English. Within a year, she was working in a typing pool for USAA in San Antonio. She became a U.S. citizen in 1955.Dolly was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband James Henry Greebon, a son James Mark Greebon of Alamogordo, and a daughter, Donna Lynn Poynter of Edgewood, Texas; granddaughters Katrina Arthurs of Garden City, Missouri, Katelyn Greebon of Lubbock, Texas and Ashlee Greebon of El Paso, Texas; grandsons Charles Poynter of Houston, Texas, Christopher and wife Jenny of Edgewood, Texas; great-grandsons Ethan Arthurs of Garden City, Missouri, and Dylan Poynter of Houston, Texas; great-granddaughters, Geneva Arthurs and Josey Arthurs of Garden City, Missouri, Amber Poynter and Keira Poynter of Houston, Texas, Abigail Poynter and Chloe Poynter, of Edgewood, Texas. Services for Dolly are pending.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), in Dolly's memory.
