Olive Laverne MurphyLEXINGTON: Olive Laverne Murphy, 74, of Lexington formerly of McConnelsville, died on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was born on September 12, 1940 in Trimble to the late John M. and Mary B. Davis Kirkbride. She was a homemaker and a member of the Malta Bible Church in Malta. Olive is survived by two sons: Randy (Sandy) Murphy of Malta and Tom (Marci) Murphy of Malta; one daughter, Angela (Doug) Scott of Lexington; brother, Ed Kirkbride of Malta; eight grandchildren: Heath, Jennifer Murphy, Nicole Kimple, Bryan McDaniel, Beth Fink, Chelsea Murphy and Erin and Adam Scott; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Lee Murphy; one brother, Don Kirkbride; one sister, Pauline Dusenberry; three half brothers: Fred, Dick and Paul Kirkbride; and three half sisters: Alta Stallsmith, Hazel Kimble and Lucille Weber. Services will be held on Wednesday, September, 17, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Malta Bible Church with Pastor Mike Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah cemetery near Bishopville. Friends may call on the family on Tuesday, September 16 from 4-8 P.M at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville and 1 hour prior to the services at the church on the day of the service.
