Oliver Leroy "Roy" AmundsonRed Bluff, CAOliver Leroy "Roy" Amundson, 94, of Red Bluff, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2017. Roy was born on May 13, 1923 to George and Alice Amundson in Vancouver, Washington. George died in a logging accident when Roy was only 4 years old, and Alice raised her sons alone in Battle Ground, Washington. Roy left college to enlist as a conscientious objector in the US Army at the start of WWII. He served as a Medic in the 104th Infantry Division (Timberwolves). Roy was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the prestigious Silver Star for heroism in combat. Roy met the love of his life, Adela Kuhlman, while on leave at Beale AFB. They were married on April 21, 1946, following his discharge from the Army. Together they had 4 children. Roy moved their family to Red Bluff in 1961. He worked as a Timber Falling Contractor for John Wheeler Logging, and spent his retirement enjoying his many hobbies. He was a faithful Christian, a man of great integrity, respected by all who knew him, and will be missed dearly by his friends and family. Roy is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Adela, and his eldest son, Richard. His survivors include Judy (Brian Church), Tom (Rosemary), and Becky (Jim Matiko). He has 7 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. There will be an internment service at the Veterans Cemetery in Igo, CA at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 30, 2017, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 720 S.
