Edinburg - Edinburg Olivia C. Hernández, 81, entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. She was born on Sunday, February 24, 1935 in Edinburg, Texas to Wenceslado Castillo, Sr. and Consuelo Conde Castillo. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Vance Luis Hernández; brother, Wenceslado "Bebe" Castillo, Jr. and sister; Maria Gloria (Eliodoro (+)) Cantu. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 66 years; Valentin Hernández; sons, Hector (Chris) Hernández, Heraclio "Laco" Hernández, Ronaldo "Ronnie" Hernández, and Daniel Saul (Linda) Hernández; daughters, Graciela (David, M.D.) Hernández-Engstrand, M.D., Cristela (Eduardo, M.D.) Hernández-Flores, M.D., and Linda Lucy Hernández; 14 grandchildren: Mara-Lysa, Lyeza, James, Sarah, Nickolas, Erica, Carolina, Mérida, Jacqueline, Ronald, Marco, Connor, Kyle and Cody; 5 great-grandchildren: Kayla, Chloe, Tristan, Amerie, and Leah: and numerous nieces and nephews in the Castillo and Hernández families. Olivia was a Guadalupana (a Catholic women's organization) and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg since her childhood. She enjoyed simple pleasures: gardening, sewing, crocheting, watching telenovelas, cooking, and making tamales. She was a wonderful daughter, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will continue through the lives of her family. Her sidekick and cherished pet Chihuahua, Lilly, will miss her too. Her favorite expression was, "Gracias a Dios". Her family will receive friends today, Wednesday, November 9, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Catholic Mass will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 501 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg with Fr. Richard Lifrak officiating. Catholic burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, 1701 East Richardson Road in Edinburg. Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Hector, Ronnie, Daniel, James, Ronald and Marco. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
