TUSCALOOSA – Olivia Warrick Henson, age 93, passed away on December 16, 2016, at Forest Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2016, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Michelle Hunter presiding. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.Mrs. Henson was preceded in death by parents, Cornelius and Mattie Warrick; siblings, Mary Hadley, James Warrick, Paul Warrick, John Warrick, Phillip Warrick, Alfred Warrick, Samuel Warrick and Robert Warrick.Survivors include her daughters, JoAnn Devereaux (Hugh), Lydia Buttram (Richard), and Cynthia Leddo (Gary); and grandchildren, Ryan Buttram, Erin Leddo Johnson (Jordan) and Matt Leddo.Olivia was born on April 17, 1923 in Marseilles, Illinois. She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1944 in Joliet, Illinois. She was an Army Corp Nurse stationed in the Philippines and Japan during WWII.She met and married Royce Henson in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where she made her home. She was employed by the VA Medical Center for 38 years. Spending time and making memories with her grandchildren was her greatest pleasure. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing and Atlanta Braves baseball and traveling. Traveling to The Holy Land, California, the Bahamas and many places on her cross country road trips. She was a founding member of New Covenant Full Gospel Church and enjoyed fellowship and worship with her church family.Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ryan Buttram, Matt Leddo, Jordan Johnson and Tim Segers; son-in-law, Gary Leddo and nephew, Mike Henson. Honorary pallbearers are Station 3 staff at Forest Manor Nursing Home, her special caregivers, Mary, Gwen, Nikki, Val, Yolanda and Cherry; and special Minister, Robert Burns, who prayed with her every Wednesday. The family would like to give a special thank you to Bonnie Johnson and the staff of Hospice of West Alabama.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Hospice of West Alabama and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Ralph, Alabama.
