Orene Douglas YoungbergAugust 24, 1919 - November 19, 2015Orene Douglas Youngberg, 96, was an ordinary woman who led an extraordinary life. She was born on August 24, 1919, in Hooper, Utah, the daughter of William Vruggink and Mary Ellen (Nellie) Fowers Douglas. She was the youngest of six children: Foetta Ellen, Vester, Charles, Wanda and Norman, who all preceded her in death. She married Frank Ivar Youngberg on November 17, 1937, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He passed away on June 25, 2008. Orene passed away on November 19, 2015, in West Point, Utah.Orene was the perfect mother who wielded a wicked yard stick. She liked everything clean and organized, was the chief cook, bottle washer, and a precise seamstress. She was the EMT for broken bones and stitches, the bail bondsman for delinquent children, the night watchman for late night escapees, the lifeguard when water was in the pasture and the ditch, a veterinarian to Dad's critters, and the strong shoulder to cry on. Many friends and family members received gifts of her crocheted doilies and counted cross-stitched pictures. She was smart and wise, patient and understanding, fun and stern and loved by all who knew her. She loved her family, those by birth, adoption, inherited and collected - including those at the Family Tree in West Point, where she resided for the last nine years. And we all loved her in return. We thank all who cared for her during her time at Family Tree. Thanks to Dr. Gary Holland, Alyx and Angie from Hospice for their gentle care. She leaves behind the best of memories that will sustain us in the lonely days to come. Orene is survived by daughter DeAnn (Bob) Dawson, Roy; sons Nyle Youngberg, Ogden; and Val (Pam) Youngberg, West Point; daughter-in-law Becky Youngberg, Logan; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, with two on the way.
