Orphaline Dell QuerryJuly 1, 1915 - April 17, 2017CHAMBERSBURGOrphaline Dell Querry, 101, was called home to her Lord after a long journey on April 17, 2017, at Penn Hall in Chambersburg. She was born on July 1, 1915 in Mapleton, PA, a daughter of the late C.H. and Nora (Bailey) Dell. She was a graduate of the Mt. Union High School, Mt. Union, PA. On June 1, 1937 she married Robert V. Querry, who preceded her in death on November 29, 1992. During her lifetime she lived in Mapleton Depot, Three Springs, Shippensburg, and Conshohocken, PA, ultimately residing in Chambersburg since 1954. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by her son, Patrick Querry (wife, Linda) of Chambersburg, a daughter-in-law, Sandra of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren (Christine, Todd, Brett, John, Amanda, Michael); six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Settle; a son, Jere D. Querry; four sisters, Esther Green, Dorothea Wible, Sarah Hoover, Jane Andrews; and five brothers, Harold, Chester, Carl, Joseph and James. She was a member and former Sunday school teacher at Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Chambersburg where until recently she was an active member of United Methodist Women, the Loyal Daughters Sunday School Class, and the Women's Craft Guild. She volunteered for many years delivering meals for Franklin County Meals-On-Wheels and was a member of Shippensburg's First Court Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. The beloved matriarch of her family, she also enjoyed traveling, cooking, sewing, and knitting. Over the past 10 years, she knitted and donated over 3,100 baby hats for area newborns at the Chambersburg Hospital. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, April 22nd at 10 AM at the Park Ave United Methodist Church, Chambersburg, with the Rev. Rachel Wong and the Rev. Dr. Ronald McElwee officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial at Bowman's Chapel Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
