Oscar Cartey, born on January 5, 1978, in Bishop, Georgia, United States, has left a legacy behind as a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, father, and dedicated member of his community. With deeply saddened hearts, we announce his passing on May 18, 2024, due to natural causes, specifically a heart attack.
Oscar was the treasured son of H. Grier Cartey Jr. and Marie Cartey; compassionate Brother of Stacey Cartey; loving brother-in-law of Steven Mclenachen. He leaves behind two cherished children, Cason Cartey and Dylan
Cartey, who brought him immense joy and pride throughout his life. Oscar's
dedication to his family was unwavering.
Oscar graduated from Oconee County High School, Class of 1996. Most
recently, he worked at the Golden Pantry where he never met a stranger but
always left an impression and a smile with everyone he saw. Oscar made a
lasting impact on those around him. His gentleness and love were evident in all
aspects of his life, both personally and professionally.
Aside from his work, Oscar found joy in spending time with family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever. He had a passion for helping others, always lending a hand to those in need and making a difference in the lives of those he touched. Oscar was a true animal whisperer, animals and pets yearned for his attention and kindness.
Though his time with us was cut short, Oscar Cartey's spirit will
live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His kindness, generosity,
and unwavering love for his family will be remembered and celebrated for
generations to come. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy will endure
forever in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
