A Scholar, An Educator of Young Minds, A Difference Maker
We are gathered here today to celebrate the remarkable life of Pamela Thornton, who was born on August 13, 1957 in Houston, Texas, United States. She was the daughter of Dr. John M. Lewis, a ref owned Cardiologist and Donna Palmore, who once reigned as the Baylor Homecoming Queen. Pamela was a loving wife to Tom Thornton, whom she married in 1982, and a devoted mother to her two children, Tiana Lee Hennings and Eric T Thornton, whom she inherited from her husband T at the tender age of 24 when they married.
Pamela attended Chatham Hall in Virginia for high school, graduating in 1975. She then went on to study at the University of Texas, where she graduated in 1983. She furthered her educational experience by obtaining her Master’s in Education from ASU in 1996, graduating with a 4.0 overall average.
Pamela dedicated many years of her life to teaching at Cornerstone Christian School, Water Valley ISD and Central High School, SAISD, teaching Advanced Placement English where she made a lasting impact on her students. She was awarded Teacher of the Year at Water Valley and twice at Central for her dedication and passion for education. Pamela retired in 2018 after a long and fulfilling career.
Outside of her work, Pamela was an active member of the AA organization, providing support and guidance to those in need. She also enjoyed horseback riding as a hobby, finding solace and joy in spending time with her beloved horses.
On June 12, 2024, Pamela passed away after a brave battle with cancer, specifically Lymphadema. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched with her kindness and compassion.
Although Pamela may no longer be with us, her spirit and memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
