Pamela Ann (Richards) RobyZANESVILLE: Pamela Ann (Richards) Roby, 83, of Zanesville, passed away unexpectedly on April 7, 2017 at the Genesis Hospice-Morrison House following a brief illness. She was born on Jan. 16, 1934 in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada.She was blessed with and is survived by four daughters, Brenda (Barry) Keim of Ft. Pierce, Florida, Karen (Ty) Davis of Zanesville, Lori (Rob) Beauseau of San Juan Capistrano, California, Amy (Mark) Stelzer of Claysville. Seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Sibyl Atkinson of London, Ontario, Canada. Two sisters-in-law Charlotte Richards of Alymer, Quebec, Canada and Carol Fluharty of Zanesville. One brother-in-law Robert (Pinky) McBride of Ft. Pierce, Florida. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews here and in Canada and dear friends Ed and Sarah Roby and Barb Welker of Zanesville. Pam was a resident of the Helen Purcell Home and while living there met many new friends that will miss her deeply.Pam was preceded in death by her husband Howard R. Roby. Her parents Oscar C. and Annie E. Richards. One brother Lloyd Richards.As a child Pam was a member of the Edmundston St. Pauls United Church and baptized on April 21, 1946. She was a member of their choir and a girls leader in the Canadian Girls in Training. She graduated from Edmundston Composite High School and then entered Mount Allison Commercial College where she received a diploma in stenography. She then met her husband to be, Howard, who was stationed at the local Air Force base across the border and she then came to the United States where they were married on August 31, 1953. Pam loved to sing and had the privilege to sing with many church choirs throughout her life. She was a member the Greater Zanesville Singers and the P.T.A. for Garfield and Grover Cleveland Schools, a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Zanesville for many years and then a member of Market Street Baptist Church in Zanesville. Pam was an avid seamstress and made clothes for her girls as they grew up as well as for other families. She also loved her flowers, planting them and tending to them gave her great peace and pleasure.Pam so loved this country and wanted to be a part of it and its process that she became a naturalized citizen on March 14, 1995 and gave up her Canadian nationality. She could now be part of the voting process and have her voice heard. She has been a proud member of the Republican Party from 1996 to the present and a member of the Zanesville Tea Party Patriots.Funeral services will be held at Market Street Baptist Church, 140 North Sixth St., Zanesville, Ohio on Friday April 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Rev. Howard Thompson will be officiating. Burial will be in Zanesville Memorial Park. Friends, family and acquaintances are then invited back to the church for food and fellowship.Pamela loved her family, friends, and flowers. If you would like to send flowers they are welcome or a donation may be made to the Helen Purcell Retirement Community in Zanesville, a 501-C3 non-profit organization.
