Mrs. Pamela Sue Goode Mardigian, age 71, passed away on June 2, 2015 at home in Richmond, VA after a long illness. Pam was born on May 23, 1944 in Mullens, WV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul R. and Kathleen Bailey Goode and brother, Paul R. "Butch" Goode.
She is survived by her husband, John A. Mardigian, daughter, Lynne M. Bland (Jamie), son John A. Mardigian, II (Chris), and daughter Kate M. Tilley; five grandchildren, Jay and Ryan Tilley, Jack and Julia Mardigian, and Elizabeth Bland; Jim Tilley; uncle, Lewis D'Antoni.
Pam graduated from Pineville High School in Wyoming County, WV and moved to Richmond, VA., where she met her future husband John on a blind date. Pam and John were married for 52 years. Pam's life calling was caring for the elderly. S
he did so with great passion for more than 20 years as an Administrator for several rest homes in the Richmond area: Ginter Hall North, Ginter Hall South, Ginter Hall West, Madison Home, and Chippendale Retirement Home. Pam was an avid West Virginia University Mountaineer fan and loved her home state.
Almost Heaven West Virginia was her favorite song, next to Amazing Grace.
She was a lifelong Democrat and often told of the time she met John F. Kennedy when he was campaigning in Wyoming County, West Virginia.
Relishing the title Mamaw, and all the obligations it bestowed, Pam loved to tell her grandchildren about the family's history and their connection through her to Wyoming County.
Pam's quick wit and sense of humor was enjoyed by many. A celebratory mass in memory of Pam's life took place on June 13, 2015, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Lourdes Catholic Church 8200 Woodman Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to jacobschance.org; littlesistersofthepoorvirginia.org; and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (ollrich.va.org) Services were provided by The Cremation Society of Virginia.
