Patricia Barbara SutliffNewbury Park, CAPatricia Barbara Sutliff, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away on April 28, 2017, in Simi Valley, California. Patricia, known to most of her friends as "Barb", was born on July 7, 1925 in Berkley, Michigan to Florence and Frederick Kendall. Shortly after her birth, her mother was diagnosed with cancer and died from complications after surgery when Barb was less than two years old. After her mother's death she remained with her maternal grandparents and spent her early childhood years in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. After completing the tenth grade in high school, she was reunited with her father and siblings on the family farm in Mikado, MI. She graduated from Oscoda High School in 1942. After high school Barb moved to Detroit and stayed with her Uncle Charlie and Aunt Mary while working for AT&T as a switchboard operator. Barb lived life to the fullest during her 91 years. She enjoyed her family and friends, did community service, volunteered at church, was a master at completing the daily New York Times crossword puzzle and loved to play Bridge. She was a talented seamstress and spent hours crocheting her famous dishcloths which she gave to family and friends as gifts. She traveled and lived all across the country but held a special fondness for Higgins Lake, Michigan where wonderful memories were made during the many family vacations enjoyed there.Barb is survived by her son Gary (Candace) Faulkes, daughter, Sandra Wilson; four grandchildren, Lindsay Faulkes, Garrett Faulkes, Heather (Tim) Sestito and Laurel Kline; two great grandchildren, Sloane Sestito and Jude Sestito; three brothers, Robert (Benny) Kendall, John (Betty) Kendall and Paul Kendall and many nieces and nephews. Barb was preceded in death by her parents; husband Burritt Sutliff; and brothers Frederick Kendall and Lloyd Kendall. A memorial service will be held in June at New Hope Lutheran Church, 29295 Agoura Rd., Agoura Hills, California with Pastor Craig Beeker presiding at a time at a time and date to be determined. Burial of Barb's ashes will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Higgins Lake, Michigan.The family would like to extend our gratitude to all of the care givers at Seniors Way and Buena Vista Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care.Memorial donations in Barb's name may be made to New Hope Lutheran Church, 29295 Agoura Rd., Agoura Hills, CA 91301.
