Patricia K. MoroneyDes MoinesPatricia was born on July 12, 1941 in Mason City, IA. She was the daughter of Alvin and Eleanor Mineart. She passed away peacefully from complications of surgery at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines on July 24, 2017.Pat grew up in Mason City, attending Holy Family Catholic school. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from St. Mary's College in Rochester, MN. She retired from Mercy Hospital in Des Moines as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of St. Augustin Catholic Church, singing in the choir for several years.Pat married Joseph J. Moroney on October 20, 1963. They had three boys, Mike, Tim and Joe G. Pat enjoyed animals and had many cats and dogs in the family home through the years. She enjoyed giving treats to the neighbor cats and dogs when they would visit. The birds and squirrels in her yard never had to worry about where to get a meal. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband Joe to places in Europe, Nova Scotia, Hawaii and much of the U.S. She,"Coach Joe", and her boys were very active at the old Raccoon Valley Little League. Pat was an avid reader, amateur artist and also enjoyed gardening. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Joseph and her brothers David and Paul (Pete).She is survived by her sons, Mike (Colonel,. USA Ret.), Tim (Carol), and Joe G., all of Des Moines; brother Steve and sister Lori Thompson, nephew Brendan (Shea) and Bently Thompson of West Des Moines, and niece Mallorie Thompson, of Mason City, IA; niece Catherine Mineart of Savannah, GA; and four grandchildren: Erin, Sean, Connor, and Caitlyn.Visitation will be 10 am, Friday, July 28, 2017, St. Augustin Catholic Church, 545 42nd Street, Des Moines, IA 50312, with mass at 11 am. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery and lunch back at church.Memorial contributions may be made to: The Animal Rescue League of Des Moines or Catholic Charities Diocese of Des Moines.
