Patricia Ruth Guiver April 12, 1925 - November 15, 2014 Patricia Ruth Guiver died peacefully, surrounded by members of her loving family, on Saturday, November 15 at St.Mary's Hospital. She was born on April 12, 1925 in Minnesota. She moved with her parents to California's sunnier climes in 1944. While at USC she met Harold B. Guiver whom she married in 1947. They made their home in Long Beach, where they raised their two daughters, Kathy (Kate) and Michelle. A member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Long Beach, for over 50 years. She loved her church very much although she was not able to participate as fully in her later years. She loved to travel and see new places, and had wonderful opportunities to travel all around the world. When traveling became more difficult for her, she still enjoyed walking on the beach with Harold. After 58 years of marriage, her husband Harold passed away in 2005. She continued to live at home and enjoy beach sunsets from her deck and living room, but no longer wanted to walk on the beach as it just wasn't the same without Harold. A serene woman, she chose to live a quiet life at home for the remainder of her life. Trips around town whether to the hairdresser or movies (where she always treated herself to a hot dog) were exciting, joyful events for her. Always happy with those around her, she was loved by many, whether family, friends or the caregivers who lived with her. Predeceased by her husband Harold, she will be greatly missed by her daughter Kate and her partner Ellen, her daughter Michelle, her grandson Jonathan, his wife Nancy and her great grandsons Ashton and Randall, along with her nephew and nieces and their families. A memorial service for family will be held Friday at 10 am at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Luke's Episcopal Church, PO Box 20038, Long Beach, CA 90801 or the Nature Conservancy, www.nature.org.
