Patrick C. Reinke of East Tawas, formerly of Sand Lake, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at home in East Tawas, age 84. Patrick was born on March 17, 1927 in East Tawas to Joseph and Agnes (nee Fernette) Reinke. He retired from Tawas Industries after having been employed for many years. Patrick was also a longtime employee of Merschel's Dry Cleaning in East Tawas as a presser, and at the Tawas Beach Club. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Florida and a faithful parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas. Patrick had many interests in life, among his favorites were hunting, fishing, woodworking and furniture refinishing. He was extremely skilled in his wood crafting abilities. Those who knew him will always remember how he would make wooden bow and arrows, walking sticks and statues free hand. His respect and interest of the Native American culture enabled him to continue his craft making ability over to replicating and restoring Indian artifacts and Native American memorabilia. Patrick married his wife, Norma (nee Wickert), on Aug. 14, 1971 in East Tawas. Together, they celebrated 33 years of marriage. Norma preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 2004. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Cecelia and Mary; and three brothers, Joseph, Donald and Thomas. Patrick is survived by his two sisters, Theresa Clark of East Tawas and Agnes Ouillet of East Tawas; his beloved dog and companion of eight years, Susie Belle; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas. His family will welcome friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the funeral mass. Interment will take place after the mass in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in East Tawas In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the St. Joseph Home Health and Hospice or the Iosco County Animal Shelter.
