Patrick J. MackinPatrick J. Mackin (Pat), age 59, passed away peacefully after a brave battle with Alzheimer's disease on January 1, 2017, surrounded by the love and care of his family.Known as Patty, he will always be remembered for his contagious smile, kind heart, and fierce love of his family and friends.Patty was born on March 21, 1957, in Staten Island, New York to Patrick and Madeline Mackin and was the fourth of six children. Although born in Staten Island, Toms River was the place he grew up, made lifelong friends and called home for much of his life. He was a graduate of Rutgers University, where he played soccer and became a lifelong fan of the Scarlet Knights.He was predeceased by his father, Patrick Mackin and his brother-in-law, Steven Knott.Surviving are his dear mother, Madeline; his beloved daughter, Christine (her mother, Mary Jo); his loving brothers and sisters, Colleen Knott; Catherine & her husband John Fuller; Daniel & his wife LuAnn; Thomas & his wife Maria and Madeline & her husband Scott Braden; his adored nieces, nephews and their spouses, Nicole & Rob, Jennifer, Jason, Daniel & Lauren, Aaron & Jillian, Matthew & Jackie, Valerie, Scott, Kerri & Victoria; and great nieces and nephews, Damonn; Avery; Irie; Brady; Patrick; Karalena; Jonathon; Reese and Finley.Services were held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 9:30 a.m., followed by private burial services.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the of New Jersey and in Pat's name.
