Smithwick, Patrick J.Patrick J. Smithwick, 85, Minnetonka, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, in Victoria.Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waconia, with visitation held one hour prior to the Mass at the church with Father Bennet Tran as Celebrant of the Mass. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.Patrick was born on March 4, 1928, in Casco, Wis., the son of Leo and Mae (Fitzpatrick) Smithwick. He was united in marriage to Carol A. Smits on Oct. 10, 1953, in De Pere, Wis.Patrick graduated from St. Norbert's College and was inducted into its Hall of Fame. He was later drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1952. Patrick was a retired VP of General Mills after 34 years and was a U.S. Navy Veteran.Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mae Smithwick; sister, Leola Otradovec; brother, Thomas Smithwick.Patrick is survived by his loving family, wife, Carol "Toddy" Smithwick; children, Mike (Joy) Smithwick, Grand Rapids; Steve Smithwick, Casper, Wyo.; Tom Smithwick, Minneapolis; Lynn Smithwick, Albert Lea; Anne (Jon) Walton, Waconia; grandchildren, Joe Smithwick, Katie (Patrick) White, Robert (Heather) Smithwick, Kellen Smithwick, Charlie Walton; great-granddaughter, Morgan White; sister, Nona Sisk, Laceu, Wash.; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.Arrangements with the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia. www.johnsonfh.com
