PATRICK 'COACH' F. KENNEDY, 53 FREEPORT - Patrick "Coach" F. Kennedy, 53, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, while doing what he loved, volunteering at Little Cubs Field. He was born on August 4, 1960, in Chicago, the son of James and Patricia (McCarthy) Kennedy. Patrick married Penny Hall on December 17, 1995, in St. Charles, IL. Coach was a master at volunteering and member of Big Brothers and Big Sisters. His volunteering included; coaching football at Freeport High School, Director and Coach for Jr. Tackle Football, M.A.D. Men of Freeport, and helping out at the Freeport High student garden. Survivors include his wife, Penny, of Freeport; his mother, Patricia Jamieson of Freeport; one brother, Jimmy; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many cherished friends. Also surviving, his present mentee, Zaion; and his love for the Kennedy Zoo, Sammy, Annie, Madison, Jenks, Tuffy and Boomer. Preceded in death by his father; step father, Doug; and two brothers, John and Mike. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Father Bob Comacho will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Burke-Tubbs; visitation also from 9:30 a.m. Monday until time of Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
