Patrise Blue Porter, age 69, passed away peacefully December 16, 2020 due to Covid-19 and collapse of lungs. She was born April 17, 1951 in Palmetto, Florida to Shirley and Patrick Porter. She eloped and married her longtime friend and love, James Porter, in October of 1971 who preceded her in death in 1994.
Patrise loved to love on people. She sewed dolls and little quilted sayings constantly. Her hands were rarely still. Raggedy Annes and Andies were her favorites. She also shared her love with food such as fresh cut fries for her grandchildren, lasagna and real fried chicken.
For many years Patrise worked at a Community Center in Palmetto. It suited her loving heart. She said she did it because of a promise she made her grandpa, Claude Porter. He used to always say: “Do what’s right and do what’s good. Be kind and help others. The world can always use one more kind person. And if you can take it one step further, please do it for people grandpa’s age.”
Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Patrise is survived by her brother and wife Timothy and Carolyn Lynn, sister and husband Robbin and Curtis Christian; sister-in-law, Juanita Bush; her three sons and their wives Noah and Theresa Smith, James and Heather Smith, and Randy Smith; grandchildren, Morrissa Smith, Sarah Lynn, Nicholas Porter, Claudette Smith, Denzel Smith, and Jeremy Christian; plus 3 great grandchildren and her many nephews and nieces. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
