Patsy A. SchmiererPatsy A. Schmierer, 80, of Monticello, passed away at 7:03 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2017 at I.U. White Memorial Hospital.She was born on November 25, 1936 in Idaville to the late Merle J. and Mable (Hunt) Heiny. On July 31, 1977 she married Ronald A. Schmierer. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2011.She was a graduate of Royal Center High School and was an Administrative Assistant at State Farm Insurance in West Lafayette until her retirement. She was the Prairie Township Trustee for many years. She was active and assisted Ron with the businesses, R & M Wholesale and Ron's Auction Center where she was most proud of running the concession and was known for cake.She had a long time affiliation and membership with Brookston Federated Church. Patsy was active in White County GOP. She was a 50 year member of Crystal Chapter #165 OES. She enjoyed crocheting, needle point, antiques and she enjoyed traveling. She especially enjoyed traveling to Alaska with her sister-in-law and to Hawaii with her granddaughter. Patsy loved and cherished time spent with her family. She was honored by her special relationship with her granddaughter, Jill and also her very close friends.She is survived by her grandchildren, Jill A. (Andie) Mears of Brookston, Jack Watson (fiancée Soutsana) of Melbourne, FL, Jennifer Watson (fiancé Ben) of Chicago, IL, Jacob Kusley (companion Andrea) of Evans, GA, Holtz (Da'Vina) Kusley of CO; brother, Don (Shirley) Heiny of Harlingen, TX; nephew, Mark (Chris) Heiny of Burnettsville; niece, Teresa (Steve) Wilslef of Idaville; great grandchildren, Nolan, Lacie, Isla, Colton, Sadi, Holtz, Jr., and Elaine; step children, Jeff (Kim) Schmierer and family, Cindy Joyner and family, and Ed Schmierer and family.She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Jalene S. Watson and Michelle L. Kusley.An Eastern Star service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, May 15th followed by visitation until 1 p.m. at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.Funeral services celebrating Patsy's life will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Brad Stroetz of Life Song Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to White County GOP or to Life Song Church.
