Patsy Ann Louise Kagey Rooney, 81, of Brunswick, MD went to her heavenly home at 6:14 pm, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick Maryland. Patsy was born on Sept.12,1935 to Truman Edward Kagey and Louise Eleanor Orndorff. Her faith journey in 1953 began at The First Baptist Church, Brunswick, MD where she taught Vacation Bible School and assisted with youth ministry activities in the 1950's and 60's. Patsy graduated from Boonsboro High School, Boonsboro, MD in 1953. She loved voice performance and was chosen to be a member of the Maryland All-State Chorus. She worked for National Geographic Society, Gaithersburg, MD in the Data Assembly Department as a Analyst Clerk and retired after 25 yrs. of service. Patsy married James William "Stuffy" Rooney Jr. on July 11, 1953 in Beaver Creek, MD. by Rev. Knibb. They were married for 62 yrs. She was a life long member of the Democratic Party and worked as an election judge for Frederick County Board of Elections and was a Hillary Rodham Clinton supporter. She was a member of the
VFW Post #10421 Women's Auxiliary for 21yrs. Her interests and hobbies throughout her life were the Washington Redskins, Nascar/Jeff Gordon fan, she liked to cook/bake, crochet, word puzzles, flower/vegetable gardening, sketch/oil painting and league duckpin bowling. In her earlier years she loved playing her organ, accompanied by her daughter on the guitar while singing duets and sharing their love for music with one another. Patsy loved all of God's creatures. Patsy was preceded in death by her husband James William "Stuffy" Rooney Jr. on March 18, 2016, her father Truman Kagey, mother Louise Orndorff, sister Nancy Dugger, brother Edward Kagey, her poodle Nugget and her daughter's furchildren; Miniature Schnauzers Jasmine, Jasper and Beagle Snoopy. Patsy is survived by her daughter Rhonda Lynn Rooney of Brunswick, MD; sisters Jacqueline Coffman of Waynesboro, PA; Shirley Rohrer of Ocean City, MD; brother-in law Raymond "Pat" Rooney (Brenda) of Knoxville, MD; numerous nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews and cousins. She will be remembered by many kind and devoted people, niece; Lisa Walker-Shankle, brother-in law Raymond "Pat" Rooney (Brenda), best friends; Floyd and Eileen Goetz, her "Wenners Hill" neighbors, and will surely be missed by her daughter's parrot "Skylar" who dearly loved Patsy. The family would like to thank Neurosurgeon Ravi Yalamanchili M.D, ICU staff at FMH, Mrs. M. Wills, Mrs. I. Miller and the Reverend Susan Elizabeth Boehl. In Patsy's final hours her family and friends gathered around her bedside while the Reverend Susan Boehl spoke of her life on earth, prayed and sang the hymn "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus". So much love surrounded Patsy as she was preparing to meet the Lord and those gone before her. There will be a private burial.
