Pattie Sue (Stinson) HarrisPattie Sue (Stinson) Harris, age 82 of Jackson, TN, died at Regional One Health, The Med in Memphis, TN on Friday, November 6, 2015. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the first responders and caregivers both in Jackson, and at the Med. They were all very kind and compassionate to her and our family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend to many.Pattie Sue was preceded in death by her husband and dearest friend of 61 years, Leslie Bumpus Harris. She is survived by her son, Harry (Jackson, TN); her daughter, Kim Harris (Jackson, TN); and her daughter, Amy and her husband, Robert T. Harris (Beech Bluff, TN). She also leaves three grandchildren: Kathryn Werner and husband Douglas (Boise, ID), Joshua Harris (Hattiesburg, MS), and Sarah Hopper and husband Murray (Beech Bluff, TN). She had four great-grandchildren: Jaxon and Maddox Harris, Ramsey Hopper, and Nathan Werner. She is also survived by her brother, Carlos Wayne Harris and wife Kay; her nieces, Connie Williams, Terry Hantzis, Cathye Schafer, and Kim Brown, and a nephew, Darryl Cooper and many great-nieces and nephews. Mrs. Harris had many friends, including Robert Nolan, Larry and Beverly Hearn and family, and LesLee Smelser and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Spencer and Lizzie Stinson; two sons, Larry and Robert L. Harris; one daughter, Jean Petty Harris; and two sisters, Helen Rippy and Marie DeLosh.Mrs. was born on July 24, 1933 in Portland, TN to Spencer and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Smart Stinson. She grew up playing in her father's barber shop and learning how to sew and play the piano from her mother. She graduated from Portland High School in 1951 where she was a member of the Thespian Society, Glee Club, and other organizations. On November 22, 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, Leslie Bumpus Harris. Together they enjoyed many happy moments with their family.In 1963, she and her husband moved to Jackson, TN and worked side-by-side in their business, Credit Adjustment Bureau. Mrs. Harris loved spending time with her work family and remained in touch with many of them after retirement from the business. During her adult life, she enjoyed collecting antiques.As a child, she was a member of First Baptist Church, Portland, TN and continued her worship and faith life as a member of Lambuth Memorial United Methodist Church in Jackson, TN. In recent years, she was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Jackson, TN and was active in the Wisdom Seekers Sunday School Class. Until her passing, she served on the Children's Ministry Team and especially enjoyed spending time with the children served by the Dream Center of Jackson, TN.Mrs. Harris was a member of the Jackson Women's Club and participated in their meetings and fundraising activities; she enjoyed playing cards with this group of ladies. Pattie Sue earned he Master Gardener designation and recently attended the 2015 Master Gardener Winter School in Murfreesboro, TN.Services are being coordinated by Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, with visitation on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 1 p.m., at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on North Parkway in Jackson, TN. The funeral service will be at the church immediately following the visitation at 3 p.m. On Monday, November 9, 2015 at 1 p.m. graveside services will be held in Maple Hill Cemetery in Portland, TN.
