WAXAHACHIE - Patty Hegwood Shiffer of Waxahachie, Texas passed away, Wednesday November 23, 2016 at her home after a long illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, December 2, from 6-8 pm at Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. Interment will follow funeral service at Waxahachie City Cemetery in Waxahachie, Texas. Patty was born on September 30, 1955 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Horace and Nellove (Sparger) Hegwood. Patty grew up in Eunice, New Mexico and graduated from High School in Hobbs, New Mexico. Patty went on and received her Master's Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Becoming a Special Needs Teacher, she worked many years at Ector County Independent School District in Odessa, Texas. Followed by a number of years at Plymouth Canton School District in Michigan. Patty met James in Odessa, Texas and were married on December 27, 1980 in Odessa, Texas. Patty and James were married for 35 years and 11 months. Together, they retired and moved to Waxahachie in June 2016 to be near their daughter and son. Patty was an Educator devoted to Special Needs. Patty will be greatly missed. Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Horace E. and Nellove (Sparager) Hegwood. Patty is survived by her husband, James N. Shiffer, her son, Scott E. Shiffer and wife Lindsy of Midlothian, Texas. Her daughter, Lacy Nichole Gunning and husband, Ryan of Waxahachie. One sister, Janet Isham and husband, Roger, of Kirtland, New Mexico. Seven grandchildren; Maren, Addelyn, Hannah, Emma Shiffer. Payge and Hunter McKee and Christopher Gunning. Survived by a host of friends and pears in the Educational Field.
