PAUL DOUGLAS BALLARDMARCH 14, 2017Paul Douglas Ballard was born on October 3, 1942 in Rowaton, CT to his parents Paul James and Norma Mae Ballard. He passed away on March 14, 2017 in Fort Myers, FL at the age of 74.Paul is survived by his beautiful wife Anita of over 20 years; daughters Deborah Stone and her husband Andrew Sullivan; Danea Kelly and her husband Tim; step-children Todd Androsko, Alexis Goble, and Troy Plummer; grandchildren Cory, Amelia, Julia, Lily, Logan, Shelly, Jensen, Andrew, and Tyler; great grandchildren Atlee, Dempsey, and Aria; sister Sharon Stone and her husband Lamar; brother David Ballard and his wife Karon; and many extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.Paul was a proud
US Air Force veteran having served 8 years with the Military Police. His service included guarding Air Force One during the Johnson Presidency. Paul was the owner of Ballard Surfacing Company for 40 years building and maintaining tennis, shuffle board, and bocce ball courts throughout SW Florida. Paul's passion in life was playing the drums. He spent his life with many groups starting with the Blue Moons in CT, various groups during his military service, and A Touch of Class in FL. Paul was strong in his faith and dedicated his time volunteering his talent at St. Cecilia, particularly at the 9 AM Mass.The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home from 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 am. Paul will be laid to rest following Mass at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors.
