KINSTON - Paul E. Warren Jr., 86, died on February 1, 2012. He was born on August 18, 1925, to the late Paul Erie Warren and Ruth Gammon Warren of Conetoe, N.C. He was a lifetime telephone company employee and a World War II veteran. Mr. Warren was an avid golfer, loved time spent at the coast, and a loyal UNC basketball fan. Mr. Warren is survived by his wife, Helen C. Warren; daughter Cherry W. Gillam and husband Robert, of Windsor, N.C.; son Paul E. Warren III and wife Deborah, of Tarboro, N.C.; sisters Nancy W. Worsley of Kill Devil Hills, N.C. and Cora Lee W. Gold of Rocky Mount, N.C.; step-daughter Susan W. Kelly and husband Phillip, of Blairsville, Ga.; stepsons Rom A. Whitaker III and wife Elaine, of Hatteras, N.C., William D. Whitaker and wife Aimee, of Marietta, Ga.; and Joseph E. Garner and wife Samia, of Goldsboro, N.C. Mr. Warren was preceded in death by step-daughter, Helen W. Carter. He is also survived by three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and 11 step-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, February, 3, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Queen Street United Methodist Church in Kinston. The family will receive family and friends at the home, 817 Greenbriar Road. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Conetoe United Methodist Church or to the Queen Street United Methodist Church. Edwards Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
