Paul H. SnellLebanonPaul H. Snell, 91, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital. Paul was born on March 3, 1926 to Andrew and Ethel (McKinney) Snell. He was the loving husband of 36 years to Joan Snell until her passing in 2013; both were members of St. Mary's Church. Paul was a graduate of the Lebanon High School Class of 1942, and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in Japan and the Philippines. He was originally slated to be in the first wave of the armed invasion of Japan. Paul worked at the Lebanon Bethlehem Steel Plant, starting as a laborer and retiring as Plant Purchasing Manager after thirty-two years. Later, he was employed for fifteen years by the State Energy Assistance Program, before retiring at age seventy-four. Paul was an avid golfer and enjoyed accompanying his wife to the Hershey Theatre, Gretna Playhouse and dinner at the Steelton Management Club. Paul was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd and Bud; and survived by sons, Robert, David and Michael; grandsons, Jeff and Andrew; and granddaughter, Shannon. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6 at St. Mary's Church, 2 North 8th St., Lebanon, 17046. Interment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. A viewing will be held prior to Mass from 9-10 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's name can be made to St. Mary's Church.
