Pauline Phyllis KatzfeyPauline Phyllis Katzfey (Mininni) of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017. Pauline was born on January 1, 1928, in Steubenville, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Lillian (Gualtiere) Mininni.Pauline attended Catholic school from 1st to 12th grade graduating from Catholic Central High School in Steubenville. She completed the nursing program (RN) at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.Due to her father's failing health, she moved with the family to Tucson, Arizona. While there, she met Edward M. Katzfey of Pierce City, Missouri who was stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. They married on October 3, 1953. Their first child, Michael, was born in 1955.In 1956, Edward was honorably discharged from the military, and the family moved to Springfield, Missouri where Ed resumed his studies at Missouri State. In 1957, he graduated with a business degree and worked for Campbell 66, while Pauline was employed as a nurse at St. John's (Mercy) Hospital. They were blessed with two more children, Frank in 1959, and Daniel in 1961.Pauline loved every aspect of nursing, particularly patient care. She spent 36 years at St. John's and enjoyed working in the newborn nursery and being head nurse of the cardiac step-down unit. Upon retirement, Pauline devoted her time to travel, her church, and caring for her family and friends.A big part of Pauline's life was her service to God through her church parish at Immaculate Conception where she was a member for 56 years and she was proud to serve on the PCCW (Parish Council of Catholic Women) and participated in the Parish Nursing Ministry and Vacation Bible School and enjoyed the study of scripture. Pauline found great joy in attending and praying at Mass frequently. Pauline is survived by her sons Michael (Vicki) and Daniel (Cindy); her grandchildren Beth, Paul, Keaton, Cameron and Caroline; her sister, Lillian (George) Totin; nieces, nephews and many, many friends.The family would like to extend special gratitude to Dr. Dominic Meldi MD (Mercy) for his lifelong care of Pauline and his commitment to her health. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her son, Frank; her sister, Helen Carrocci; and her parents.The visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be held on Friday, November 3, at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Hazelwood Cemetery.
