LEXINGTON, S.C. — Payne Hurst Henry passed away at her home on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014.
Payne was born on Oct. 17, 1945 in Raleigh, N.C., to Edwin William Hurst Jr. and Payne London Hurst.
Payne grew up in Rockingham, N.C., before moving to Columbia, S.C. She worked for the IRS and Columbia Women's Healthcare in Columbia. She had a joy for life, an infectious laugh and a warm heart that touched many people. Above all, she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and grand-dog, "Blue" Henry.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Edwin William Hurst III.
She is survived by her son and wife, Clay and Michelle Henry of Lexington, S.C.; son and fiancée, Ed Henry and Margaret Mitchell of Raleigh, N.C.; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kinsley Henry of Lexington, S.C.; brother and wife, Robert and Rhonda Hurst of Rockingham, N.C.; nephew, Ben Hurst (Kristen) and daughter, Londyn of Rockingham, N.C.; and nephew, Michael Hurst (Kristin) and son, Chandler of Rockingham, N.C. She is also survived by family members, Dan, Kathy and Mark Donnelly of Leesville, S.C.; and dear best friends, Kay Lamon and Linda Powell of Lexington, S.C.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barr-Price Funeral Home, 609 Northwood Road in Lexington, S.C.
Burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday at East Side Cemetery, 1500 Fayetteville Road in Rockingham, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the are respectfully requested.
Payne was a very loving and giving person, and this gesture would serve to honor her memory.
